ABOUT ME

I’m Makaila, a quiet, introspective painter and lover of psychology. I make landscape paintings of empty spaces that have a dreamlike or liminal quality to them. If you’re someone who relishes in quiet moments alone, seeks stillness, and often retreats into your own inner world, my art is for you.

I like to think of my work as beautifully odd. My paintings are infused with both sides of my personality: one that thinks in a rational, organized structure and one that feels a constant, subtle strangeness about reality. I make paintings as reminders of those forgotten, quiet moments of isolation, where we begin to understand ourselves more.

I have a deep desire to understand how the unconscious mind (such as dreams and forgotten memories) drives our experiences and perceptions. As an introvert I value privacy and that is what my work has to offer — a safe, secluded space where the mind can freely wander in this unusual world.
